Personal Statement

I photograph fragile documents and valuable objects as well as create digital files from negatives, transparencies, and prints to meet museum and archives needs for documentation, preservation, and display. Previous archival and museum experience includes seventeen years as Chief Photographer at the Oregon Historical Society.

Assignments have ranged from photographing the ten thousand year old Fort Rock sandals to creating mural-size prints from glass plate negatives. I earned a masters degree in visual anthropology and have documented cultures around the world. The “Masters of Ceremony” exhibit required creating documentary portraits of folk artists from Cambodia, Vietnam, Ghana, and several Native American tribes.
